A downsizing couple snapped up a stunning, Victorian terrace in Parkville for $3,535,000 beating out two other bidders at a competitive auction on Saturday.

The two-storey, four-bedroom home at 159 Park Drive had been used as an investment for the vendor for the past 15 years. They had restored the property, while adding some modern features to it.

Abercromby’s Real Estate agent and auctioneer Simon Curtain said homes like Park Drive, which needed no renovation, and were priced right, were selling well.

“It’s a real sign around how good the market is at the moment at this level,” Curtain said. “This is really about the supply side being so low that there’s more competition.”

Bidding on the property opened at $2.9 million, with a quick succession of $50,000 and $25,000 offers taking it to $3.2 million, where the home was called on the market.
